Opening hours 2023

The Christmas Market Municipal Cave 2023 is open from 17 November to 30 December. 

Regular opening hours per day:

Monday to Friday 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM

 

Exceptions:

 
Sunday 24 December 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Monday 25 December  Closed
Tuesday 26 December  11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
Saturday 30 December (last day of opening) 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM

Please note:
- The entrance closes 45 minutes before the closing time of the Christmas market. This will ensure that all visitors will have the chance to see the entire Christmas market and to avoid disappointments.
- Not all exhibitors have a pin device. It is therefore advisable to take this into account!
- Pets are not allowed inside the cave! Not even in a bag, buggy or similar object.
- During the weekends the time slots are fully booked quickly. We recommend to plan your visit on a weekday or evening, most of the time these time slots are still available.


Accessibility

The Christmas market in the Municipal Cave is also accessible with a wheelchair, mobility scooter or rollator. The aisles for the public are at least 2.5 metres wide and are level. This enables disabled people to fully enjoy everything the Christmas market has to offer!
Please note: pets are not allowed inside the cave! Not even in a bag, buggy or similar object.

 

Reachability

By public transport

Valkenburg aan de Geul is centrally located in South Limburg and is easily accessible by public transport. Valkenburg aan de Geul has a railway station at a walking distance of just 10 minutes from the Christmas market in the Municipal Cave. Every 15 minutes, trains from Maastricht and Heerlen leave for Valkenburg. Valkenburg is also accessible by train from Kerkrade and Aachen (Germany). By car

From Eindhoven: Coming from Eindhoven, follow the A2 motorway in the direction Maastricht and take the exit to Valkenburg. Then follow the road signs to Valkenburg. 

From Brussels: Follow the motorway A3/E40 from Brussels in the direction Liège (Luik). In Liège (Luik), follow the motorway E25 in the direction Maastricht. In Maastricht, travel on the A79 motorway in the direction of Valkenburg/Heerlen, then take exit 3 to Valkenburg. At the bottom of the exit, turn right in the direction of Valkenburg.

From Cologne – Aachen:
Travel from Cologne towards Aachen, Aachen Heerlen E314 motorway, follow the A79 motorway towards Heerlen, Valkenburg, Maastricht. Take exit 3 Valkenburg-Houthem (not Valkenburg Centrum). At the bottom of the exit, turn left at the roundabouts towards Valkenburg.

In Valkenburg, please follow the signage to be led to the recommended parking spaces.
